Abstract
Relationship-based nursing is the cornerstone of providing high-quality care. However, the emphasis on physical and biological factors, coupled with time constraints, can often compromise patient-centered care. In order to truly prioritize patient-centered care, it is important to establish a partnership with patients, with them at the center of their own care. This means avoiding a paternalistic attitude and instead prioritizing equality, cooperation, and the patient’s autonomy as the starting point.
To extend health and recognize health risks early on, preventive measures and health promotion should take precedence. Providing individualized care and respecting the patient’s time are also critical components of patient-centered care. All of these elements require building a strong relationship with patients.
By prioritizing relationship-based nursing and patient-centered care, healthcare professionals can improve the quality of care they provide, ultimately leading to better outcomes for their patients.
