Abstract

Nerve injury is a rare but potentially serious complication in regional anesthesia. Understanding the anatomy of peripheral nerves is paramount in discerning potential mechanisms of injury during regional anesthesia in addition to preventing them. While neurological complications may be multifactorial, early recognition can aid in appropriate management. While most nerve injuries will resolve on their own, neurology or surgery consultation may be required in certain instances.
