Samenvatting

In de jaren tachtig en negentig van de vorige eeuw ontwikkelde Amartya Sen samen met Martha Nussbaum de ‘Capability Approach’ (CA) als alternatief voor ontwikkelingsmodellen waarin economische groei centraal staat. Met deze benadering stelden zij het menselijk welzijn centraal in het denken over ontwikkeling. Hun perspectief op ontwikkeling komt sterk overeen met de manier waarop sociaal werkers mensen tot hun recht willen laten komen in de samenleving. Maar hoe pas je een theoretisch model toe op de praktijk?
