– At this stage the upper moiety is lying as a specimen and now we are left with removal of the lower part of dilated ureter. This ureter is in a Y shaped configuration with the normal ureter and the 2 ureters are merging just above vesico-ureteric junction. The dilated ureter is further separated from the normal ureter up to the level of confluence.
The dissected ureter is ligated just above the confluence with the help of a suture loop. The ureter is double ligated and divided with scissors. One has to be careful to securely place the ligature without damaging the normal ureter. This completes the procedure and the specimen is removed through the ports.
