Endolaparoscopic inguinal hernia repair is the preferred modality of repair today. Most inguinal and pelvic hernias are suitable for repair with minimal access techniques. These include hernias encountered in a wide variety of clinical settings such as sliding hernias, irreducible hernias, obstructed hernias, femoral and obturator hernias. The following presentation demonstrates the Total Extraperitoneal Repair of a Bilateral Type 1 Obturator Hernia. The procedure was indicated for a bilateral direct inguinal hernia, a primary medial type 2 on the right side and a primary medial type 1 on the left side, according to the European Hernia Society classification in a 62-year-old female patient.

The Obturator Hernia was discovered incidentally and was treated in the same surgical procedure. A brief review of this rare hernia is included in the presentation.
