Information Text: Create and build fun and engaging robot projects with LEGO Mindstorms EV3. In this video, you’ll start by designing and naming your projects. Then give them life by connecting and controlling them for wire free movement with Bluetooth. Try out easy challenges, such as getting your robot to move the length of a yardstick then come back.

Discover the basics of programming by teaching your robot to make sounds and display images. Incorporate sensors so that your robot can interact with and react to the world around it. And incorporate loops with the ultrasonic sensor to program a robot that can autonomously move around a space forever.

With this video, you’ll discover all the basic tools and skills needed to create awesome robotics projects using LEGO Mindstorms.

What You Will Learn

  • Connect your robot to a computer using Bluetooth or a wired connection

  • Move your robot with rotations, time, speed, and direction

  • Program your robot to make sounds and display images

  • Incorporate sensors so that your robot can discover the world around it

Who This Video Is For

Students, hobbyists, and instructors interested in using LEGO Mindstorms to learn programming and robotics.

About The Author

Kevin Briggs

Kevin Briggs is a technology teacher and robotics coach at Bancroft School in Worcester, Massachusetts. When he first started teaching technology, he was overwhelmed with student questions and troubleshooting needs after explaining a topic. This led to producing video content, so kids could watch explanations and focus on debugging when the need arose.

Hi. I’m Kevin Briggs. I’m a computer science teacher who’s introduced hundreds of students to LEGO Mindstorms. I’m also a robotics coach who’s led several award winning teams in FLL competition. So I took what I do in the classroom and put it into this course.

You’ll learn how to get your robot moving, have it make sounds, use all different types of sensors like the ultrasonic, touch, and the color. Should be a lot of fun. And at the end, you’ll have a very solid foundation for knowing how to program in LEGO Mindstorms.

And you’ll have the skill and flexibility to do just about anything that you want. So without any further ado, let’s get started and make our first program.
