About the Editor
Kevin Donnelly is Professor of Film and Film Music at the University of Southampton. He is author of The Shining (Wallflower/Columbia University Press, 2018), Magical Musical Tour: Rock and Pop in Film Soundtracks (Bloomsbury, 2015) which won the Southwest Popular and American Culture Association’s 2016 Peter C. Rollins Book Award, Occult Aesthetics: Sound and Image Synchronization (Oxford University Press, 2013) which received an American Musicological Society award, British Film Music and Film Musicals (Palgrave, 2007), The Spectre of Sound (British Film Institute, 2005) and Pop Music in British Cinema (British Film Institute, 2001); and editor of Film Music: Critical Approaches (Edinburgh University Press, 2001), co-editor (with Phil Hayward) of Music in Science Fiction Television: Tuning to the Future (Routledge, 2012) and co-editor (with Will Gibbons and Neil Lerner) of Music in Video Games: Studying Play (Routledge, 2014), co-editor (with Ann-Kristin Wallengren) of Today’s Sounds for Yesterday’s Films: Making Music for Silent Cinema (Palgrave, 2016), co-editor (with Steve Rawle) of Hitchcock and Herrmann: Partners in Suspense (Manchester University Press, 2017), and co-editor (with Beth Carroll) of Contemporary Musical Film (Edinburgh University Press, 2018).
