Abstract
The resource-based view (RBV) has emerged as one of several important explanations of persistent firm performance differences in the field of strategic management. After passing through an intense period of theoretical development and proliferation in the early 1980s and early 1990s, basic RBV logic was established and began to have an impact on empirical research in the field. At the same time, resource-based logic began to influence theoretical and empirical work in other non-strategic management disciplines including human resource management, marketing, management information systems, and operations research, among others.
