Structure of Higher Education System
Higher education is provided by public and private universities and institutes. Higher education institutions are under the responsibility of the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche scientifique and follows the three-tier LMD system.
Stages of studies
University level first stage
The Licence is awarded after three years’ study.
University level second stage
A further two years beyond the Licence lead to the Master.
University level third stage
This is the third cycle of higher education. Entry to the course is based on the Master. Students must submit a thesis.
