Structure of Higher Education System


The aim of higher professional education is to provide high quality education and training that meets the needs of the economy. There are state and private HEIs. The two-level (Bachelor-Master) educational system was introduced in 2007. The third level (Aspirantura) is in the process of being reformed.

Stages of studies

University level first stage

Bachelor's degree; Medical Doctor

The Bachelor's degree is awarded to those having completed secondary education and four years of higher education. For medical studies, the Bachelor's degree (Medical Doctor) is awarded after a minimum of 5 years, depending on the specialization.

University level second stage

Master's degree

The Master's degree is conferred on those who hold a Bachelor's degree and have completed two further years of higher education. Clinical Ordinate and Pharmaceutics degrees are granted to those having studied Medicine and completed at least one year of postgraduate study....
