Structure of Higher Education System
Higher education is provided by both public and private universities, higher institutes and specialised schools.
Stages of studies
University level first stage
Since 2010, with the introduction of the three-tier (LMD) system, the first stage lasts for three years and leads to a Licence.
University level second stage
Since 2010, with the introduction of the three-tier (LMD) system, the second stage lasts for two years and leads to a Master.
University level third stage
Since 2010, with the introduction of the three-tier (LMD) system, numerosu doctoral schools have been being created. They lead to the Doctorat after 3 years of study. The University of N’Djamena awards a Doctorat in Medicine after seven years of study.
