Structure of Higher Education System
Higher education is provided by institutes and training centres both public and private. The University of the South Pacific (USP) - jointly owned by the governments of 12 member countries - operates a Campus in Tonga which enrols students for non-degree and degree courses by distance.
Stages of studies
University level first stage
The normal length of Bachelor's degree courses is three years.

Name of Secondary school credential required: Pacific Senior Secondary Certificate
Name of Secondary school credential required: Tonga National Form Seven Certificate
Alternatives to credentials: Completion of the South Pacific University's one-year foundation programme is equivalent to the Form 7 for access to university studies.
