Structure of Higher Education System
Higher education is offered in post-secondary school institutions / tertiary institutions. University education is offered in public universities and private universities (some of them with constituent colleges). Universities are autonomous. All administrative functions are independently managed by University Councils and University Management Boards. Academic matters are managed by University Senates. Post-secondary institutions offer training at diploma and certificate levels. Technical and Vocational Education is offered at polytechnics, institutes of technology and technical training institutes.
Stages of studies
University level first stage
Bachelor’s degree programmes are offered in all the UNESCO Degree Classifications, including law and engineering, generally obtained after four years of study; veterinary medicine takes five years, and architecture and medicine six years.
