Notes

  1. 1.

Subsequent to the time of writing the White House announced that Under Secretary Tara Sonenshine would leave office in June 2013, apparently as part of an effort to open vacancies to reward contributors to the 2012 election campaign. The decision was not applauded by the public diplomacy community and is a sad testament to the degree to which the cost of US elections corrodes wider aspects of US statecraft.
