Abstract

Fractures of clavicle in the lateral and the mid-third often require fixation. The choice of implants varies from simple k-wires to pre-contoured locking plates which are specific to the unique anatomy of the clavicle. The choice of implant for fixation depends upon the fracture pattern, the build of the individual, and the expectations of the patient. In this chapter, we would like to detail the different implants which are/were available for clavicle fixation, their mechanics, method of fixation, advantages, disadvantages, and their success rates.
