Nonmetallic ore resource is a kind of mineral resources distributed in the Earth’s crust, with certain economic values, without metal characteristics, bearing the physical, chemical, and technological properties to meet the needs of human beings. Nonmetallic ore resources are one of the mineral resources. They are generally classified according to their industrial uses as follows: (1) auxiliary metallurgical materials, such as fluorite, magnesite, and refractory clay; (2) raw materials of chemistry and fertilizers, such as phosphate rock and potassium salt; (3) mineral raw materials for industrial manufacture, such as graphite and diamond; (4) ceramic and glass raw materials, such as feldspar, quartz sand, and kaolin; (5) building materials, such as perlite and granite; and (6) gems and arts and crafts minerals, such as gem-grade diamond, ruby, sapphire, and jade.
Nonmetallic ore resources are different from energy mineral resource and metal ore resource. Some of them, such as marble...
