Autogenous grinding process is the grinding process in which the ore in grinding mill is crushed by the interaction between the ore particles or between the ore and lining plate of grinding mill. Autogenous grinding can be in three types: open loop, closed loop, and semiclosed loop. Depending on the medium used in autogenous grinding process, the process can be classified into two types: dry and wet. In dry autogenous grinding, material is delivered pneumatically, selective crushing has strong effect, and the product has uniform particle size (0–3 mm). Disadvantages: The material is subject to rigorous requirements, and the pneumatic system is complex. This process is suitable for processing of fibrous or flaky material (e.g., asbestos and mica), aluminum oxide, or artificial corundum. In wet autogenous grinding, the grinding process is easy to adjust and control and free of environmental pollution. It is widely used by mineral processing plants.
