This is a giant canyon with a U-turn along the lower course of the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet. It starts in Daduka Village (elevation 2,880 m) in Milin County and runs south to Baxika Village (elevation 115 m) in Motuo County. The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is 504 km long with an average depth of 2,800 m, and the deepest part reaches 6,009 m. It is the largest canyon in the world. This canyon is characterised by nine vertical nature zones ranging from the alpine mountain zone to the tropical monsoon forest valley zone. It brings together a variety of biological resources and is the area with the heaviest rainfall in the world at similar latitudes. It is also the world’s most rapidly uplifting region. This canyon holds two titles from the China World Records Association (CWRA): the world’s deepest canyon and the world’s longest canyon (Fig. 3).
