A tropical rainforest is a zone of forest vegetation distributed within 20° latitude of the equator. Tropical rainforests consist of lush, humid, and heat-tolerant evergreen trees with roots, epiphytes, ‘old stem flowers’, and ‘strand plants’, drip tips and other unique ecological characteristics. They are mainly located in the Amazon River Basin in South America, tropical regions in Southeast Asia, and the Congo Basin in Africa. They are also located in parts of China, such as Hainan, southern Taiwan, Yunnan, and southern Guangxi. Rainforests can effectively regulate the climate over large areas, and they are also the most important species gene banks on Earth. Tropical rainforest landscapes usually have high tourism value.
