This climate type is mainly distributed in the inland regions of Asia and Europe, North America and South America. These regions are located far from the ocean or are blocked by mountains, so little water circulation occurs. This climate is controlled by the continental air masses for the entire year. The scarce precipitation results in a semi-arid climate. The summers are hot, and the winters are cold with large variations between the day and night temperatures. This climate type is a transition between the dry temperate desert climate and the humid marine climate.
