This is a 20-km-long karst gorge of marble that extends from Tailuge to Tianxiang. This gorge has a maximum depth of approximately 1,660 m, and the narrowest spot is only 10–20 m wide. The cliffs on both sides of the gorge are nearly vertical with relative heights of 200–300 m. The stream in this gorge runs down rapidly from Hehuan (Acacia) Mountain at an elevation of over 3,000 m and drops 20–30 m per kilometre. The continuous erosion by water has continually deepened the gorge, forming the magnificent Tailuge Gorge scenery (Fig. 5).
