National Mining Parks of China

The Ministry of Land and Resources began building national mining parks in 2005 in an effort to protect mining heritage and promote the sustainable development of the economy and society in mining areas. A total of 72 national mining parks had been built by 2017. The first group of 28 mining parks, including the Beijing Pinggu Huangsongyu National Mining Park, was approved on August 23, 2005. The second group of 33 mining parks, including the Heilongjiang Daqing Oilfield National Mining Park, was approved on May 17, 2010. China is the first country in the world to build national mining parks. To make it easier for people from all walks of life to become familiar with China’s national mining parks and obtain relevant information, the parks were coded according to the date of being approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources.
