Mineral Electrical Conductivity

Mineral electrical conductivity is the conductance of a mineral. Different minerals have different conductivities. Usually, native and metallic minerals have better conductivity and are good conductors of electricity. Nonmetallic minerals are non-conductors, and most metallic minerals are semiconductors. The conductivities of minerals can be used for mineral identification or ore selection, and physical prospecting methods can be used in exploration for metallic ores. In the electronics industry, the nonmetallic mineral mica is used as an insulating material, and graphite is a popular material for making electrodes.
