This is a type of transitional soil between red earth and latosol soil that is formed by desilication, aluminization and bioaccumulation under high temperature and high humidity conditions in South Asia. It is a typical soil type in South China’s subtropical zone. The surface has a deep red weathered layer, and the soil is acidic. This soil is mainly located in the hills and terraces of western Guangdong, southeastern Guangxi, southwestern Guangxi, southern Fujian, southern Taiwan, and southwestern Yunnan between approximately 22 and 25°N at elevations of approximately 450 m.
