Introduction
Home-school family pedagogy (HSFP) is an innovation in early years’ education which describes an innovative relationship between home and school environments, in which each becomes more like the other (see Fig. 1). A key outcome of this pedagogy is the relative ease of transition from children’s experiences in preschool to those in primary school. This pedagogy was developed initially in Russia and has been implemented successfully in trials in Ireland. The concept, theory, and practice of home-school family pedagogy are based on the work of educator and psychologist, Lev Vygotsky (1896–1934).
