Definition

Structural design refers to the creative work that transforms the design tasks and requirements of the structural system into technical documents that can be implemented. The designer needs to analyze, calculate, draw, and test all the components of the structural system according to the actual original conditions and finally present all the drawings for production and the relative technical documents. This process usually involves constant revisions to pursue perfection, which brings together the creativity and inventiveness of the designers (Yu 2010).
