Introduction
Aryl fluorides including fluorinated heteroaromatic compounds are of much importance since they exhibit unique and pronounced biological activities. In fact, a number of partially fluorinated aryl compounds are currently used as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Electrochemical partial fluorination of aromatic compounds has received much attention. Electrochemical fluorination of aryl compounds very often provides difluoro products as well as monofluoro products since monofluoro products have similar or a little lower oxidation potentials compared with starting aryl compounds. Furthermore, electrochemical fluorination of aryl compounds sometimes provides nonaromatic multifluorinated products. Therefore, electrochemical fluorination of aryl compounds is usually not so selective, and the yield is generally moderate to low [591,592,593,4].
