Augustine of Ancona

Abstract

Augustine of Ancona (Augustinus [Triumphus] de Ancona) (1270/1273–1328), an Augustinian friar, wrote at least 32 theological and philosophical works but is chiefly known for his Summa de ecclesiastica potestate, a systematic argument for the supreme power of the pope in both temporal and spiritual affairs.
