Introduction
Food justice is the idea commonly associated with the ethical framework under which access, distribution, and participation on issues regarding food are discussed. However, to provide a single and clear definition of food justice would be as difficult and as challenging as any other ethical endeavor that deals with the concept of justice. This entry focuses on providing the different angles under which food justice can be understood or defined and the possible challenges that such attempts could face. The issue of food justice opens the door to a series of questions that will inform any kind of definition that the reader may have. Do we have a right to food? If we do, who is responsible to satisfy that right? Should the actors involved in food issues be regarded as subjects of charity?
