Brief History
The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) was founded in 1975 on the basis of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1365/75. As a body of the European Union (EU), it is financed from the general budget of the European Commission. Eurofound’s role is to provide information, advice, and expertise on living and working conditions, industrial relations, and managing change in Europe, based on comparative information, research, and analysis. Its main target groups are key actors in the field of EU social policy such as employers, EU policy makers, governments, and trade unions. Eurofound’s core business is both research and communicating the results of that research.
