Abstract

Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) related uveitis is a rare form of ocular inflammatory condition caused by the virus which belongs to the herpes group of viruses. EBV has been associated with a number of systemic malignancies such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma. It can lead to protean manifestations in the eye ranging from mild conjunctivitis to vision-threatening posterior uveitis. It is imperative to keep a high degree of suspicion for arriving at the diagnosis of EBV uveitis. While the treatment is supportive, identification of EBV as the etiology can help in establishing the true cause of uveitis in “idiopathic uveitides.”
