FormalPara DefinitionHypoxanthin ist ein wichtiger Metabolit des Purinstoffwechsels und wird durch die Purinnukleosidphosphorylase (PNP) aus Inosin gebildet und durch die Xanthinoxidase weiter zu Xanthin und Harnsäure abgebaut.
FormalPara BeschreibungHypoxanthin wird durch die Purinnucleosidphosphorylase (PNP) aus Inosin gebildet und durch die Xanthinoxidase weiter zu Xanthin und Harnsäure abgebaut. Daneben kann Hypoxanthin durch die Hypoxanthin-Guanin-Phosphoribosyl-Transferase (HGPRT) zu Inosinat (IMP) phosphoryliert und damit wiederverwendet werden („salvage pathway“). Die Bedeutung dieses Stoffwechselweges zeigt das Lesch-Nyhan-Syndrom. Der Nachweis von Hypoxanthin kann über HPLC-Methoden und GC-MS erfolgen.
