FormalPara DefinitionGuanin ist ein wichtiger Metabolit des Purinstoffwechsels.
FormalPara BeschreibungGuanin wird durch Purinnukleotidase (Purine) und die Purinnukleosidphosphorylase aus Guanylat (GMP) gebildet. Guanin wird durch die Guanindesaminase weiter zu Xanthin und Harnsäure abgebaut. Daneben kann Guanin durch die Hypoxanthin-Guanin-Phosphoribosyl-Transferase (HGPRT) zu GMP phosphoryliert und damit wiederverwendet werden („salvage pathway“). Die Bedeutung dieses Stoffwechselwegs zeigt das Lesch-Nyhan-Syndrom.
