Zusammenfassung
Ausgehend von den Konzepten Anthropozän und planetare Grenzen werden in diesem Beitrag einige besonders kritische globale Umweltveränderungen zusammen mit ihren Antriebskräften vorgestellt. Am Beispiel des Klimawandels wird etwas genauer sowohl auf den erdsystemischen Mechanismus, als auch auf die gesellschaftlichen Ursachen eingegangen. Einfache Erklärungsmodelle werden zugunsten komplexerer verworfen. Globale Umweltveränderungen und der anthropogene Klimawandel stellen nicht nur ein Themenfeld, sondern mittlerweile auch eine konzeptionelle und praktische Herausforderung der Soziologie insgesamt dar, nicht nur dem Bindestrich-Fach Umweltsoziologie. Es zeichnen sich Rekonfigurationen der soziologischen Grundbegrifflichkeit ab, die die herkömmliche Natur-Gesellschaftsdifferenz erodieren lassen. Zugleich weisen weltweite Umweltdegradationen mit der nicht mehr unrealistischen Perspektive eines Untergangs der Menschheit darauf hin, dass es sich beim Anthropozän erst um eine halbierte Moderne handelt. Sie baut auf einem technischen „Können“ und „Bewirken“ auf, dem die Reflexivität und die soziale Empathie weitgehend fehlen. Sie zu entwickeln ist die Kernaufgabe einer sozial-ökologischen Transformation, an der sich die Soziologie insgesamt auch praktisch beteiligen muss.
