Mehr-als-menschliche Soziologie: Neue Materialismen und Posthumanismus

Zusammenfassung

Der Artikel führt Kernthesen neomaterialistischer und posthumanistischer Theorien aus einer soziologischen Perspektive ein und kartiert Genealogien und zentrale Themenfelder dieser Denkbewegungen. Relationale Ontologien werden als wichtiger Bezugspunkt der meisten Positionen innerhalb des – ansonsten sehr heterogenen – Feldes verstanden. Mit dieser Orientierung wird ein radikal relationales Denken beschrieben, welches davon ausgeht, dass menschliche und mehr-als-menschliche Akteure aus spezifischen Beziehungen hervorgehen und diesen nicht vorausgehen. Der agentielle Realismus von Karen Barad sowie der Posthumanismus von Rosi Braidotti werden exemplarisch näher vorgestellt. Erstere Position extrapoliert die sozialtheoretische Stoßrichtung Neuer Materialismen, während letztere die gesellschaftstheoretische und gegenwartsdiagnostische Komponente eines posthumanistischen Projekts verdeutlicht. Abschließend diskutiert der Beitrag Potenziale und Grenzen der neomaterialistischen und posthumanistischen relationalen Ontologie und stellt auf epistemologischer, ontologischer, politischer und ethischer Ebene fruchtbare Anknüpfungspunkte für die soziologische Diskussion ebenso heraus wie Verkürzungen und Fallstricke.
