Zusammenfassung
Infografiken und Datenvisualisierungen zeichnen sich durch ihre visuelle Evidenz und Anschaulichkeit aus. Sie zeigen auf Anhieb, was Texte nur unzureichend zeigen können: Strukturen, Zusammenhänge, Relationen, Proportionen, Prozesse. Erst die Visualisierung von Daten und Informationen macht diese zugänglich und verständlich. Das grafische Vokabular von Infografiken und Datenvisualisierungen besteht aus Punkten, Linien und Flächen in unterschiedlichen Größen, Farben und Formen. Der Beitrag verortet Infografiken und Datenvisualisierungen in ihren unterschiedlichen Forschungskontexten, beleuchtet sie aus historischer Perspektive und liefert definitorische Grundlagen.
