Zusammenfassung

Mit der Einführung der RIFLE und dann der AKIN/KDIGO Kriterien hat sich erstmals eine einheitliche Definition des Akuten Nierenversagens (Acute Kidney Injuries,AKI) durchgesetzt, die in klinischen Studien und im Alltag verwendet werden kann. Ergänzend zu den funktionellen Kriterien aus diesen Definitionen (Kreatinin, GFR, Urinausscheidung) sind auch Sonographie, Urinmikroskopie, neue renale Biomarker und in manchen Fällen auch die Nierenbiopsie in der Diagnostik des AKIs wichtig und sollten in der klinischen Praxis Anwendung finden.
