Zusammenfassung

Die Chronisch-obstruktive Lungenerkrankung (COPD) ist durch eine nicht vollständig reversible Atemwegsobstruktion gekennzeichnet, die progressiv verläuft und mit einer abnormen Entzündungsreaktion der Atemwege auf Noxen vergesellschaftet ist. In zirka 10 % der Krankheitsfälle liegen durch Überlappung der Kriterien Mischformen aus Asthma bronchiale und COPD vor, das Asthma-COPD-Overlap-Syndrom (ACOS). Die COPD zählt zur Gruppe der Obstruktiven Atemwegserkrankungen, die gekennzeichnet sind durch reversible oder irreversible Verengung der Bronchien. Neben COPD gehören dazu Asthma bronchiale sowie das sogenannte Overlap-Syndrom, bestehend aus der Kombination der COPD mit Obstruktiver Schlafapnoe (OSA).
