Zusammenfassung

Aufgrund ihrer Häufigkeit und ihrer Prognose zählt die Adipositas zu den bedeutendsten chronischen Krankheiten im Kindes- und Jugendalter. Sie bedarf erhöhter ärztlicher Aufmerksamkeit sowie neuer Wege für eine effektive Prävention und therapeutische Intervention. In diesem Kapitel sind die Themen Pathophysiologie der Gewichtsregulation, Ursachen, Definition, Prävalenz, Komorbidität, Prävention und Therapie der Adipositas ausführlich dargestellt.
