Synonyms

Definition

With common trade names Etopophos (etoposide phosphate) and VePesid, etoposide is a cytotoxic chemotherapeutic. Most commonly it is used to treat Ewing sarcoma, testicular cancer, lung cancer, lymphoma, nonlymphocytic leukemia, and glioblastoma multiforme. Etoposide inhibits DNA synthesis, through inhibition of DNA topoisomerase II.
