Polish-German physician, who added in 1889 perhaps the single most valuable contribution to the blood stain, since until his discovery no one had seen the nucleus of the plasmodium cell ( Plasmodium ). Due to his special modification of the methylene blue component of the stain, he was the first to produce the color of royalty in histochemical staining. During 1888–1890, Malachowski started using the Checinski-Plehn double stain method and ameliorated it by polychroming.
