Simulium: Subgenera

There is a worldwide distributed spectrum of subgenera, within which nearly 1,600 species are described. The most widespread genera are Simulium (1,203 species), Prosimulium (110 species), Nevermannia (169 species), Gigantodax (65 species), Austrosimulium (25 species), Eusimulium (33 species), Psilopelmia (50 species), and Cnephia (10 species).
