Mansonella perstans Filariasis in Africa

Patients bearing this filarial nematode have been reported from 33 countries in the sub-Saharan Africa – often with very high prevalence rates among children. Since there are very few epidemiologic studies, the Mansonella perstans filariasis is classified as the most neglected of the neglected diseases.
