Alveolins

This term describes a group of specific proteins, which at first had been found below the pellicle of ciliates and dinoflagellates, but now are also characteristic for motile stages of apicomplexans, where at first they had been termed IMC1-proteins, since they had been described within the subpellicular network (SPN, IMC).
