This ear mite of ruminants reaches a size of 1–1.2 × 0.8 mm, occurs worldwide (rarely in Europe), and may introduce inflammations of the outer ear channel (leading occasionally to Otitis media, too). Infected animals become apparent by head shaking and by a nonstraight head keeping. Treatment by application of flumenthrin on the outer ear was successful.
