Name
Greek: ana = up; thrix = hair; soma = body. These trichurid nematodes are parasites of monkeys and opossums within the skin and respectively within the mucous layers of nose and mouth or within ear and eye. Rare cases were also found in dogs and cats. The eggs look like those of Trichuris species, measure 50–70 μm × 35–40 μm, and contain already a larva when excreted.
