Name
Greek: xeros = dry; derma = skin. This symptom of skin disease is characterized by formation of a dry, horny, scaly skin. Besides mild forms of ichthyosis, this clinical picture (xerodermia) can also be introduced by wandering larvae 1 of the filarial worm Onchocerca volvulus , which is the agent of onchocercosis, onchocerciasis (River Blindness).
