Ventral sucker or Baer’s disc

Definition

Posterior holdfast organ of Monogenea. Large hookless holdfast organ which characterizes the platyhelminthic group of Aspidogastrea. In adult worms, it covers nearly the whole of the ventral side (Figs. 1, 2, and 3).
