This term describes a peculiar form of a tight junction that occurs during the host cell penetration process of motile stages of Apicomplexa, where material originating from the rhoptries and micronemes helps to form a short-time connection of the parasite to the host cell invagination so that the parasite can slip into the developing parasitophorous vacuole.
