Introduction
Lateral skull base is a complex anatomical region in which a variety of pathological entities may be encountered (congenital, inflammatory, trauma, vascular lesions, and benign and malignant neoplasms). Surgical approaches to the cranial base are technically challenging. Complex regional anatomy and diversity of pathologies of the lateral skull base often require a multidisciplinary approach, such as the close cooperation of an otolaryngologist/head and neck surgeon and neurosurgeon.
